Where Claude is strong

  • It’s excellent at writing, analysis and working through long documents.
  • Scheduled tasks and connectors let it do recurring work on paid plans.
  • Claude in Chrome works inside the browser you already use, so there’s no separate sign-in.
  • It asks before taking actions by default.

Where Alvin is different

  • Approvals route by role. A crew lead can request a parts order; it waits for whoever you’ve allowed to approve that amount.
  • Your logins sit in Alvin’s vault with scopes per login (read, draft, submit), instead of in someone’s browser.
  • Receipts with before/after values and screenshots on every plan, kept permanently.
  • Trade knowledge out of the box, and one memory of your business shared by the whole team.

Can you use both?

Claude and Alvin do different jobs. Keep Claude for writing and thinking; hand the repeatable back-office work to Alvin.

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude do my office work?

It can do a lot of it for one person, especially in the browser with Claude in Chrome. The gaps for a contractor team are shared rules: who can approve which amounts, a vault for company logins, and a permanent receipt of every change. On Claude’s Team plan, role-based access and audit logs aren’t included; they’re Enterprise features.

Does Alvin use Claude?

Alvin is its own product with its own rules. The AI models underneath can change; the vault, limits, receipts and memory are Alvin’s and stay the same.

Which is cheaper?

Claude Pro is $20/mo; Alvin starts at $99/mo plus usage. Alvin is priced against the office time it replaces, not against a chat subscription.
